Art in a Public Voice: The Madrona Project at the Museum of Northwest Art

  • Museum of Northwest Art 121 1st Street La Conner, WA, 98257 United States (map)

Poets and artists will converge at the Museum of Northwest Art in La Conner to offer a reading and discussion from the most recent issue of the anthology series, The Madrona ProjectArt in a Public Voice, recently published by Empty Bowl press in Chimacum, Washington.

Please join us for an introduction to this beautiful collection of poems and public art, edited by Samuel and Sally Green and Michael Daley, the series' managing editor. The book consists of fifty-four images of artworks to be found at publicly-owned locations in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia with fifty-four accompanying poems which celebrate the Pacific Northwest's environment of art which is in itself a celebration of the natural world we've inherited. All of the images from the anthology will be on display. This anthology includes a reproduction of the "Cumming Mural," housed at MoNA and a poem by renowned Northwest poet, Linda Bierds.

The event will be moderated by Tim Bruce and participants include the following poets and artists; poets Tim McNulty, Ed Harkness, Bill Ransom, Jeremy Voigt, Linda Bierds, Alicia Hokanson, Samuel & Sally Green, Kathleen Flenniken, Michael Daley, and Josie Turner; and artists Tony Angell, Andrea Wilbur-Sigo, Clark Wiegman, and Constance Jones.

The event will conclude with a book signing. Copies of the anthology will be available for purchase.
