SUSAN SKILLING: READING THE WORLD

In the Judi and Harry Mullikin Gallery, MoNA presents Susan Skilling – Reading the World. Skilling has been painting and exhibiting in Seattle for over 25 years. Skilling is an artist who listens to her own inner voice and not the latest trends. Reading the World consists of new gouache paintings from Skilling’s studio. Her paintings are elegant meditations of color, composition, and content. A consistency of organic sensitivity found in the dense layering of subtle color with energetic highlights “revealing the artist’s intimate engagement with her materials.” Skilling uses handmade Thai mulberry paper and mineral based gouache paints.
