Recycled Books into Art Journals Workshop with Rachel Simpson

Transform a discarded worn book into a creative work of art that encompasses a theme and utilizes a variety of media and techniques. You can make your altered book into an art journal, writing journal, photo album, or a scrapbook!


About the Teaching Artist

Rachel Simpson has been making art throughout her whole life. Both her parents were artists in music and visual art, while she’s also been influenced by the Pacific Northwest, & many books. In 2007, she went back to college to study the arts, and graduated from Western Washington University with Bachelors in Fine Arts and Arts Education degree in 2013. Currently, she’s an artist/art educator, on the Board of Directors & a Teaching Artist with Allied Arts of Whatcom County, experience as an Art Educator with the following: Rachel's Whimsical Arts, Franklin Academy in Bellingham, WA, the Museum of Northwest Art, (MoNA) in La Connor, WA, Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, WA, schools throughout Whatcom County, and at Whatcom Community College, (WCC) in Bellingham, WA.

How to Register for a Class

  4. Click the orange “Checkout” button.

  5. Fill out, review and submit your payment information.

  6. You will receive a confirmation email after step 5 is completed.
