Join us in celebration of Youth Art Month! Froebel developed 10 gifts (educational materials) and 10 occupations (educational activities) to support children’s play and learning in 1837. Become familiar with seminal ideas that have contributed to the field of art education to help better understand how we came to be where we are today.

1:00 - 1:15pm Welcome and Introduction to MoNA
1:15 - 2:00pm Materials as Mentors Slide Presentation
2:00 - 2:15pm Q & A, demonstration of how the 2nd gift is used and explain the connections built into the complex sequence of the gifts. And demonstration of proper way to open a box of blocks
2:15 - 2:45pm Drawing forms lesson with handouts from an old drawing textbook - sphere, cylinder, and cube
2:45 - 3:00pm Explore the gallery exhibitions at MoNA
