Joseph Gregory Rossano: Portraits of the Divine

The distillation of decades-long engagement of the artist with the impact of human beings on the natural world, Joseph Gregory Rossano: Portraits of the Divine is a compassionate tribute to nature. The exhibition features a selection of large-scale works from three of the artist’s ongoing series: At the Top of Her Lungs, Whitewashed, and Ivory. In each series, the artist invites the viewer to reflect on the divine oneness between humans and nature.

William Morris: Early Rituals

Internationally acclaimed for his compelling work with glass, William Morris has blazed a trail in the American Studio Glass Movement for his unique ability to imbue his sculptures with a sense of alluring mystery, suspended time, and ancestral oneness with the natural world. William Morris: Early Rituals presents a selection of works created by the artist from the mid-1980s to early 1990s—a time during which Morris experimented with innovative glassblowing techniques, ancient forms, and dazzling surfaces as he honed his poetic vision. These works are a prelude to the sculptural works of the following two decades which garnered him international acclaim as a glass artist.

SOMOS | WE ARE

The exhibition SOMOS | WE ARE features a collection of diverse, colorful, inventive and exploratory artwork and crafts created by the youth who attend the Estudio de Arte para Niños del Centro de Trabajadores del Campo | Children’s Art Studio at the C.C.S. Farmworkers Center. In the estudio these student artists, ranging in age from 2 to 17, have the opportunity to explore the use of art materials, mediums and art principles at weekly workshops. The estudio is their place: in this ongoing journey the young artists are working together with teachers, staff, volunteers and family members to articulate through art, conversation and community the stories of their lives. This work, a culmination of a year of inventive, lively, joy-filled observation is an invitation from them to you - to “come and see who we are.”

At the Seam: The Museum of Northwest Art's Permanent Collection

At the Seam: The Museum of Northwest Art’s Permanent Collection is an ongoing engagement with the collection as the place of contact of the many artistic identities of the region. The exhibition asks to look not only at the individual works but also at the ‘seams,’ where works representing different artistic trends and cultural identities come in touch with each other. When they come in contact with each other, these works tell stories of coexistence, contrast, and difference within the social fabric of the Northwest region, past and present.
